When you're told you have cancer, it is normal to be frightened and overwhelmed. The best thing you can do is learn as much as you can about your diagnosis. Gathering as much factual information will allow you to feel like you are in control and help you deal with the information you have just received. Forming a relationship/bond with your entire medical team will help as well. Always ask questions! No question is a dumb question. If the responses given by your doctor's or team aren't clear, do not hesitate or be ashamed to communicate you don't understand. Getting clarity on something you don't understand will help minimize uncertainty and doubt. Stay vigilant, and never lose sight of your faith.
